Batu Local Guides held the Coban Jahe Geo Walk on this day, Saturday, March 9, 2019. Coban which means waterfall in Javanese terms. The first plan was to explore Coban Jahe, Coban Sari, Coban Ani Ani, and Coban Tangkil. However, considering that there are still enough points that need to be added or corrected, finally the exploration is focused on Coban Jahe 1, 2, 3 and Coban Tarzan.
As scheduled, we arrived at the location at 7 a.m. The ticket counter was still not visible at the guard post, so we decided to enter the parking lot, and would pay for the ticket when exiting. Next to the parking lot, there were tents of scouts who were camping. We take pictures at several points while matching them with Google Maps. Apparently, the stalls here are not yet on Google Maps, and we mark them to be added. Not far from here, Coban Jahe 1 shows its beauty. We take pictures from several points.
After that, we walked towards Coban Jahe 3 and Coban Tarzan which are located close to and around 800 meters from Coban Jahe 1. Coban Tarzan is already on Google Maps, but it is wrong position (under Coban Jahe 1) so we correct it to the right position . Whereas Coban Jahe 3 is not yet on Google Maps, and we are trying to add it.
From here, we walked back to Coban Jahe 2 and Indian Camp, about 400 meters away. Same with Coban Jahe 3, Coban Jahe 2 is also not yet on Google Maps. Including Indian Camp, and one cafe in it. Here, we met with the manager of this place who is also a Perhutani employee. There is also an Ippasa community that contributes to the management of this tourist attraction. We had a discussion about the places in Coban Jahe which turned out not all of them were added to Google Maps. Even though all the places we’ve explored today and we added to Google Maps are not fully approved, we don’t give up. We will try again, because we make sure these places do exist.
The time was 9.45, when we had to say goodbye, to go to one of the home industries asking for our help to be added to Google Maps.
