One of the interesting things on Batu Local Guides’s activity is Geowalk. We’re exploring the natural wonders accross Malang Raya region (Malang City, Regency, and Batu). Last saturday, we went to a special location called Coban Glotak. “Coban” is a Javanese pronounciation for a waterfall (but i think in my hometown Banyuwangi they don’t called it like that, just “Air Terjun”). It was a short trip from the center of Malang city to the west about 30 minutes by car. After that, we paid the entrance ticket for 5.000 rupiahs. It’s very cheap, right?. They can only accept cash payment, so please be noted to bring some money before you went on holiday.
Then, we started to walked for about 1 km to the waterfall (I think the height of the waterfall is about 100 meters). We’ve seen a beautiful sceneries all the way to see the falling water. You could see several of our footages here:
If you’re feel hungry all the way there, you could found 2 mini shops selling foods and waters runned by local villagers.
Half way from the waterfall (about 600 meters), there’s a bunch of stacked stone called “batu tumpuk”. Currently, I don’t know the geological history about it, but i think it’s going to be interesting for the archeologist to study it.
And also be notice that the way to the waterfall is risky (landslide), so make sure you’re not going there if rain is happening the day before you travel (for your safety).
About 400 meters left from the waterfall, the road is getting trickier. They provides us a rope to climb down the slippery stones.
At the final 200 meters we can see the water stream! Nearly there!
We need to cross the river twice to reach the waterfall. Sure, we went to take some pictures again :v.
Finally, the waterfall is in front of our eyes!
At this moment, i went to pick a 360 pictures:

So cool, right?
Anndd, taraa. Here’s the waterfall for you
I could understand why they’re calling this waterfall coban glotak. Because the water is splashing to us and sounds like “gluotak”. Then, around 11.00 AM we went back to the gate for our next event, foodcrawl at Warung Joglo Tegalan Local Guides Connect - [RECAP] Batu Local Guides : Foodcrawl at Warung Jo… - Local Guides Connect.
Alright, that’s our story about Coban Glotak Geowalk. I can’t wait for the next geowalk events. See you later!
P.S. all images belong to their respective owners (me, mr assaifi, ms annisa, ms. regina, and others on the geowalk)
