Knowledge sharing sessions are my favorite ones among all the meet ups. This was another knowledge sharing session held at Batticaloa Sivananda Vidyalaya National School.
The event started at 4 pm as planned with a click of enthusiastic participants from Batticaloa area, there were few who attended the previous knowledge sharing session as well as some new faces.
Considering the new faces, I began from the very basics with the addition of upgraded points system for the Google Local Guides. Also, I facilitated hands on experience in the uploading of videos, 360 photographs, and several other features and gave them chance to practice that at that point. Many of the participants preferred editing places into Tamil language. Also, I introduced them the communities available, how to create a meet-up.
During the discussion, few of them could relate their passion with their contribution to Google maps. For instance, one told me that he could actualize his passion of photography while contributing to Google maps. Another one told, that he enjoys mapping and fixing the hospitals and health care service entities in the right place with the intention that he could help the ones in the emergency. Similarly, there were many points that dragged the event till 8.30 pm at night by the extended Q&A session, I had to ignore several personal calls during the session due to the top level curiosity prevailed during the session. I was so excited to answer the curious questions asked by the participants. Also, I explained them about checking the facts, uncover missing places, editing, and moderation.
All new faces who attended signed them up to Google maps with much pleasure. Thanks for all the participants. @KishothN and others
