Spreading over 64 Acre of land, Barju Lake is becoming more famous among the domestic tourist. The lake is managed by the government and is in the process of more expansion. I planned to host a meetup for adding new photos to reflect the changes out there.
Since I was only the one for the meetup I started my journey from Biratnagar around 10:00 a.m. to reach on time. I reached Barju Lake around 11:00 a.m. but my bad, it was closed for that day due to improper activities by the visitors as it was Holi festival. I was only able to take some photos around the office due to the closure. I planned to return back to come back again next day for taking more photos.
Since I was already in that area I stopped by to take some snaps of the existing places to update on Google Maps. I was able to take photos for couple of Health post and schools while driving back home.
Next day, I headed back to Barju Lake to take new photos. I reached the lake early in the morning around 8:00 a.m. After submitting the entry fee of Rs. 20, I was able to enter the Barju Lake property. I was told that there was ongoing cleanup and expansion work as the lake was filled with water hyacinth (jalkumbhi).
Firstly I circled the lake to take some photos of the lake with my vehicle. I stopped by at the turn to take the Panorama’s and some 360 photos.

I would recommend to visit this place during bird migration season which is around mid sep - oct if you are willing for bird seeing. Do bring the food and snacks as there is no proper facility for snacks and do dispose it in proper place.
