[RECAP] Bangalore Photo-Walk (Physical & Virtual) LGA Meet-up - TravellerG

Photo -1; Caption: Cover photo

Hi friends,

Though the physical meet-up was completed successfully, the virtual meet-up session was more interesting & interactive with the participation of almost 15 LGs.

I reached Madiwala Lake Park by 4:50 pm (IST) for the physical meet & the photo walk. Starting from the entrance, the park, the lake & the boating centre were well covered.

The Madiwala lake is almost 300 years old and is one of the largest lakes in Bengaluru. This lake is built by the Cholas and presently comes under the Karnataka State Forest Department. An island in the centre of the lake provides shelter to many migratory birds during the breeding season. Boating is the primary entertainment here.

The virtual meet-up session started at 5:58 pm and continued until 7:10 pm. We exchanged LGC 8th Anniv greetings; also, we welcomed our @Gurukrishnapriya back to India, after her long journey abroad.I profusely thank our dear friends for their active involvement during the meetup: @ReshamDas @Mukul_Anand @RosyKohli

Though our dear @Erna_LaBeau was unwell, she attended the meetup from the beginning until the end - thank you so much.

Special thanks to Anil Singh ( @Anil6969 ) for the live demonstration and Ajit Thite ( @AjitThite ) for the meetups’ screenshots.

This meet-up was a part of Local Guides 8th Anniversary Celebration Meet-ups #LGAnnivmeetup by @NareshDarji @Tushar_Suradkar @KashifMisidia - Thanks for this great opportunity.

:wheelchair: Though the walking track is muddy, the park is accessible for differently-abled persons; parking also is accessibility friendly.

Best wishes to all.

Excellent photos of the Madiwala lake @TravellerG

I never knew it looked so beautiful with a blue surface of the water under a blue sky.

We planned several times but could not visit this lake during the 4 yrs. in Bengaluru.

And it even has boating - that is so good.

Also, nice to see that they take care to provide lifejackets, something that I don’t see at boat riding in Pune.

Congratulations on this photo walk meetup on the 8th anniversary of Connect :handshake:

Your valuable compliments make me really happy - thank you so much.

For your information, a couple of years back, the agitation was very bad - the lake was in real trouble.

Government along with social activists played a key role - last couple of years, boating was stopped. I think in April 22, it was restarted.

But, it is surely a good park & lake for families and youngsters - you really missed it, I feel… So kindly plan a visit, stay with us and re-explore Bangalore.

“… take care to provide lifejackets,…”

This is mandatory here.

“… blue surface of the water under a blue sky…”

Im ashamed to accept it fully (some mobile camera adjustments gave the effect - I have not edited the shot) … The water is really dirty and the foul smell is horrible at some places.

Still worth visiting it - Rs. 50/ for 30 minutes is very cheap and hence you have to face a very long queue to purchase the ticket.

Greetings with regards, my dear @TusharSuradkar

PS:

Thanks for your initiative and opportunity.
