♿[RECAP] AccessibleBangladesh, Part: 11 (Mirpur 12 Bus Stand Area)

This is the front view of Infinity Mega Mall that is well accessible.

Mirpur 12 Bus Stand Area is one of the busiest areas in Dhaka City. From this point, you can move in every direction inside or outside of Dhaka. It has become a transit hub in Dhaka. There are many commercial buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, and other POIs here.

Front view of the Prince Bazaar that is accessible by a nice ramp

Most of the residential buildings in this area have accessible main entrances as the above one.

Various kinds of people use this area every day and among them, disabled people are not less in number. As a result, the Accessibility features of this busy business area are very much necessary for disabled people. So, I have hosted a meet-up: Accessible Bangladesh, Part #11 (Mirpur 12 Bus Stand Area) here today to check and update the available Accessibility features there.

We found a ramp in Southpoint School

The main entrance of the Pallabi Nursing College is fully accessible.

During this meet-up, we did the below things.

  1. We checked and update Wheelchair Accessible parking and entrance.
  2. We checked and update the Wheelchair Accessible ramps (if any).
  3. We checked the availability of wheelchair-accessible toilets/restrooms there
  4. We checked and update other accessibility features found there.
  5. There was an intensive discussion session related to Accessibility, map editing and, connect account problems.

This is the main entrance of BRTC Bus Depot This is smooth and fully accessible.

There is a nice accessible friendly Public Toilet in this bus stand area. We found this clean as well.

Unfortunately, we found KFC Mirpur totally unaccessible that disappointed us a lot.

LG Al Mamun is taking the photo of a ramp of a POI in our meet-up venue.

We started the meet-up timely at 4 pm with @AbdullahAM Abdullaham. Later AtiqulHadi96 and MasudAlam joined us. Together we covered several roads of the Mirpur 12 Bus Stand Area. In the end, we ate Haleem at Grand Panahar Restaurant.

Excellent photos and check up @MukulR

I would like to add a note that a place with handrails near a staircase can also be marked as accessible.

This is because not all disabled people are in wheelchairs.

And many disabled people can walk and climb and the handrail is helpful in those cases.

A ramp is not required every time.

I mark photos with handrails as accessible.

Great going… :+1:

In a broad sense, you are right @TusharSuradkar Dada. Handrail Staircase is really helpful to other disabled people. I did not think that way, though. Thanks a lot for mentioning this point. I will keep it in my mind. Thanks a lot for your nice comments also. Stay safe.
