The 42nd accessibility meetup in Pune was convened today, Jan 25, 2023, as part of the celebration of the 8th anniversary of LG Connect organized by the enthusiastic and energetic Guiding Stars @NareshDarji and @KashifMisidia Bhai.
As usual no one attended, so it was a solo meetup wherein I visited the Raj Square Building on Pashan-Baner Link Road in Pune.
I checked the following.
- The accessibility of the main entrance.
- The availability of ramps at the entrance.
- The accessibility of the parking space.
- The accessibility of the elevators.
The main entrance of the building is accessible from the sidewalk footpath.
A bit farther where the sidewalk footpath connects to the main Sus Road smoothly providing seamless accessibility.
The way to parking on the backside is nicely leveled and hence accessible but the staircase is not.
The parking on the backside of the building is well-paved and is accessible.
The ramps on the backside leading to the underground parking is accessible.
The exit gate is leveled all the way to the sidewalk footpath and the main Sus Road and is accessible.
Here’s a closeup look where the exit gate leads to the main Sus Road.
The view of the exit gate from the roadside also showing the handrail on the staircase.
This is the main entrance to the building that shows accessibility features like a handrail.
There is also a bus stop near the Raj Square building which is accessible from the sidewalk footpath.
Here’s the banner of the meetup though I chose to use the entrance to the Raj Square Building as the profile picture for this post.
Conclusion
The Vascon Eco Towers in Pune are fully geared towards embracing the differently abled and though there were a few discontinuities, helpful people were always available nearby to ease the experience of the differently abled.
This meetup was conducted as part of the Accessibility for All movement.
