{Recap} Accessible Maps with Accessibility Champions (A Virtual Meetup)

Virtual meetups are the best way to meet people. I always wished to meet people around the world but could never fulfill my wish due to regional constraints. And to be honest, i had missed a lot of opportunities to meet and greet people during my last two years (CL 18 & 19) .

But thanks to these virtual meetups where I can achieve my wish talking internationally to the best local guides around the world.

“How is accessibility awareness in your country and how businesses are dealing with it?”
“What’s the importance of an accessibility meetup in your area?”

These were some questions in our mind, and for finding the answers to these questions, I and Jane Burinina discussed a lot and then decided to invite the best local guides who are very well known for their great contributions to Accessibility on Google map and have a wide eye on Accessibility issues.
Before the meetup, I was quite nervous because this was my first meetup when we have to host some of the best local guides in the world. But thanks to Co-host of the MeetUp JaneBurunina who gave me confidence before the meetup started and during meetup all friends who were there made me more confident.
I would like to say thanks to OmerAli , who rescued me so many times and welcomed everyone with a great smile and waiving flag. My friend Jane, @AlexandreCampbell , @Julien44 (with great smile) , @LuigiZ ,

@StephenAbraham Bhai, @ShafiulB , @SaifIS , @Sagir

And fantastic team members of #oneAccessibility Alliance

@Jesi , @ChinonsoOnukwugha and @PennyChristie who did not sleep for our meetup (it was 2 am in Australia.
Big thanks to you guys ?

Started with the above questions and during discussion all of our focus was to learn as how we can improve our contributions for the people with different abilities.

  • We talked about Hearing Aid in Australia.
  • Accessibility friendly places in Malaysia
  • What’s required in Brazil to improve Accessibility there?
  • What is situation of Accessibility in Pakistan?
  • How Bangladesh is improving day by day in Accessibility matters?
  • What’s new in Ukraine for people with different abilities?
  • How local guides giving their contributions for Accessibility in Nigeria?
  • How Italy and France facilitate the people with different abilities in their countries.

Many questions, many answers but the time was limited, even we could talk hours there but it had to close for our next moves.

Meetup ends with world famous Selfie of Luigi, and got the honor to be part of Luigi’s selfie.

The meetup gave lots of awareness, great knowledge, and lots of smiles on our faces.
I can say very easily, this was the best meetup I ever attend or host in my life.

Hi @KashifMisidia

Thank you so much for organising this great meetup.

First, we had the opportunity to speak about a very important issue : accessibility. It was very interesting to see the differences between our countries.

Secondly, it was a chance to meet all these great local guides as you have mentionned. To be honest, now that we do virtual meetup, I often think why didn’t we do this before? It is so good! I really enjoyed meeting you and all the other one that I haven’t meet off-line so far. I feel even more closer to you know and that is much appreciated !

Thirdly, I felt honored to participate and to have been invited to your meetup. There were so many well known, active and incredible Local Guides.

Thank you to you and to @JaneBurunina for the organisation but also for the video. It is good to see you all again as I reminds me great souvenirs.

I hope to see you again soon in some others meetups!

Have a nice weekend my firends and see you around

Besos and hugs from France

This is incredible @KashifMisidia Thank you and @JaneBurunina for hosting a very successful accessibility international virtual meet up with some legendary Local Guides and wonderful friends. I am so happy I stayed up until 2am to join you. I had so much fun watching @OmerAli draw cool designs and keeping us all laughing and entertained while we each had a chance to share how our countries deal with accessibility. And seeing @AlexandreCampbell and @Julien44 smiles brightened up the whole screen. It was also wonderful seeing our #OneAccessibilty team members @Jesi and @ChinonsoOnukwugha

Let’s do this again one day soon.
