As I write the recap of this meet-up, I feel extremely happy as ‘Accessibility’ is a cause close my heart and this was my first ‘Accessibility’ meet-up ! Also this meet-up was a part of LGCA meet-ups so the excitement was double !
I was amazed to see so many attendees joining from across the globe , ready to gain knowledge , share their experiences and learn more about how they could contribute towards this noble cause of accessibility using Google Maps ! I got to meet many new faces and curious minds during this meet-up !
The meet-up started with a quick round of introduction of the attendees , followed by a short presentation by me depicting the current accessibility situation in London and we discussed what needs to be done to make it better. I was surprised to see so many questions popping out regarding accessibility in London and was very happy to answer by sharing my experiences with all !
After this , I shared the 'Accessible tourist places in London’ map created by me using ‘My Map’ feature in Google Maps with all, followed by, multiple ways in which they could contribute towards ‘Accessibility’ using Google Maps by sharing examples of photos, reviews , creating lists, and other contributions done by me. The response was amazing and I was happy to see the willingness and eagerness of the attendees to know how they could contribute towards this noble cause!
Post this, we proceeded towards the question-answer session.
The session was a brain-storming one with so many questions coming up from attendees like Doc_dells , Keshav Aggarwal, Ewaade, Niv S , GKP Ma’m and many others. I dont have enough words to express my gratitude to @EmekaUlor for not only joining but also answering multiple queries of the attendees and urging them to contribute towards accessibility ! Emeka also shared how @TraciC inspired him to start this amazing #oneaccessibility team of Local Guides dedicated towards the noble cause of accessibility . The Journey is truly inspiring one !
A big thanks to @KashifMisidia for the constant support , answering queries of attendees and encouraging me to take up meet-ups related to accessibility. I am happy and proud to be a part of such enthusiastic group of Local Guides who have dedicated themselves to this cause.
Thanks to @Shrut19 and @doc_dells for amazing photos of the meet-up and special thanks to @Nomad_vikram for taking out time and helping with the meet-up collage ! You can see all the photos in the photo album.
Last but not the least, I thank all the attendees who showed their support and interest in accessibility and attended this meet-up !
