Firstly, I would like to thank @EmekaUlor for inviting me to take part in the Global cause for accessibility and participate in the Worldwide Accessibility Walk. I would also like to thank @KashifMisidia and @ShafiulB for sharing knowledge regarding accessibility.
On pleasant daylight, we met near one of the acclaimed streets of Hyderabad where individuals prefer to walk/cycle for travels. So, it is significant that accessibility information must be accurate. Around 6 local guides from corners of the Hyderabad meet near Shivam Road to mark the Global Accessibility Awareness Day.
Started with greetings and introduction, we discussed the motto of the walk. Moving forward we got divided into two teams to cover both the sides of the roads as it’s difficult to cross the road all the time. Precariously, we look at all the entrances of the stores and malls. We added pictures and included the accessibility information in the comments. Finally, answered the accessibility questions of the places we visit. To our surprise, most of the shops, restaurants and malls have the wheelchair accessible entrance and parking albeit lift is only at certain places.
In this walk, we had a very special guest named Sai Teja. Do you know which thing forced him to attend this meetup?
By this time you would have guessed. Yes, exactly Sai Teja recently met with an accident and got his right hand injured. He describes how he is facing lots of problems with the injured hand. He can’t ride a bike or car, faces difficulties in eating, sleeping, writing or using a mobile phone. Does he fear how things are going with the disables? Yes, exactly. There are large problems disables face in daily life. Let us think by putting ourselves in the disable person’s shoe and imagine how the day will be? It’s difficult, right? We’ll be thinking deeply that even the footpath is accessible or not. So, let’s make the entire world accessible for the disables. Thanks a lot, Sai Teja for the inspiration, everything you said was admissible.
**As this meetup was preponed, I would like to thank all the attendees that they managed and attended the walk within a short notice. Special thanks to @GVREDDY143 and @anilreddychinna for coming from long distances.
