After the lockdown, Gurugram is opening up in phases and people are increasingly visiting various shops in the marketplace for shopping various daily needs items.
In Gurugram the Sector 10A Marketplace is one of the largest.
We visited various shops in the main market of Sector 10A and:
- Checked the accessibility of the main entrance.
- Checked the availability of ramps at the entrance.
- Checked the accessibility of the aisles in the shops.
- Checked accessibility of the washroom/toilet if any.
- Checked accessibility of the parking space.
Here is a brief summary of the accessibility check.
Some shops in the northern part of the Sector 10A market had absolutely no ramps or access points like this cake & bake shop.
While some other shops like Vastralay had a decent arrangement of good quality ramps.
Some banks and merchant shops had questionable access in spite of the presence of amps which served no practical purpose.
Some shops had initial access but last stage access was missing.
Other shops had fairly decent access ramps for shops and parking as well.
Some shops had access to ramps via neighboring shops.
Other shops, primarily finance centers had no access ramps at all.
Some good access ramps were seen in the southeast part of the market.
Many shops and establishments had ramps that served no practical purpose and were there perhaps to facilitate access only to loading vehicles that carried goods to the shop and not necessarily meant for shoppers.
