[RECAP] Accessible Gurugram - Episode 05 - Banks

After the lockdown, Gurugram is opening up in phases and people are increasingly visiting various banks.

In Gurugram Sector 10A, almost every major bank has a branch office.
Various banks in Sector 10A were visited and the following checks were performed:

1. Accessibility of the main entrance.
2. Availability of ramps at the entrance.
3. Accessible counters in the bank.
4. Accessibility of the washroom/toilet.
5. Accessibility of the parking space.

Here is a brief summary of the accessibility check.

1. Corporation Bank + Union Bank common building.

Both internal and external parking is accessible.

The main entrance is also wheelchair accessible.

The approach road is also wheelchair accessible.

The entrance to the bank and the counters area is unfortunately not accessible due to lack of a ramp.

2. Punjab and Sindh Bank

Both the main entrance and the bank entrance are not accessible.

3. Yes Bank

The bank entrance has a ramp.

The main entrance is not accessible.

4. State Bank of India

The main entrance has a ramp.

The bank entrance is not accessible.

5. HDFC Bank

The main entrance is accessible.

The parking is accessible for a wheelchair.

The bank entrance does not have a ramp and is inaccessible.

6. Axis Bank

The main entrance and the bank entrance are not accessible for a wheelchair.

7. Kotak Bank

The main entrance and the bank entrance are not accessible for a wheelchair.

8. Canara Bank

The main entrance and the bank entrance are not accessible for a wheelchair.

The adjacent ATM is however accessible for a wheelchair.

9. IDBI Bank

The main entrance and the bank entrance are not accessible for a wheelchair.

10. SBI Sector 10A Branch

The main entrance and the bank entrance are both accessible for a wheelchair.

The toilets in all banks where available were accessible.

Banks and ATM are most important place for any kind of public.

Every place important for accessibility point of view but these places are must required Accessible Parking,Entrance,Toilets,lifts.

you provide a very useful information. but i have question about these places.

Is there any marking for accessible parking, Entrance and Toilets?

The point you raised is very important and I was thinking of writing and talking about this for a long time.

In India specifically, there is no preference for markings but for actual facilities.

People look out for access points and give less importance to any signs, hence no one cares to look for such signs.

This is a distinguishing feature compared to western countries where some signage is given a lot of importance.
