♿[RECAP]Accessible Bangladesh, Part 9 (Mirpur Bus Stand Area)

Busy Mirpur 10 bus Stand Circle

Mirpur 10 Bus Stand Area is one of the busiest areas in Dhaka City. From this point, you can move every direction inside or outside of Dhaka. It has become to transit hub in Dhaka. There are many commercial buildings, shopping malls, hospitals and other POIs here. I arranged a meet-up her on 30th September 2021 to check the available Accessibility features. Prominent Bangladeshi LG @AbdullahAM joined me from the beginning.

Medinova Medical Services

During this meet-up we checked the below points:

  1. :wheelchair: We checked Wheelchair Accessible parking and entrance.
  2. :wheelchair: We checked the Wheelchair Accessible ramps (if any).
  3. :wheelchair: We checked the availability of wheelchair-accessible toilets/restrooms there
  4. :wheelchair: We checked the other accessibility features found there.
  5. :wheelchair: A discussion session was also there on the importance of Accessibility during the entire meet-up.

National Healthcare Network

As the construction work of the Dhaka Metro Rail Project is going on, this area has become very congested. It is really tough or inaccessible for any wheelchair-user or other disabled people to use without the help of other people. Footpaths are also destroyed and we found some holes that are really risky for any disabled people.

Shah Ali Plaza is the biggest shopping mall in this area. Unfortunately, all the 3 entrances of this shopping mall are inaccessible. We tried to trace the other accessible features of this mall but did not find any. Though inside the mall shops are fully accessible. Isles smooth and spacious to move with a wheelchair.

Dear @MukulR , with this helpful recap of Mirpur bus stand area, beside the accessibility status, the status of availability of breastfeeding area, luggage room, public toilet is clear to all. Which will definitely help a lots of tourists.

Thanks for your inspiring activities in Bangladesh. Great to know that @AbdullahAM joined the meetup from very beginning.

Like every other meetup by you, this time the food part is missing at the end :speak_no_evil: .

Stay safe and happy.

I knew that the question of food will rise as in all other previous recaps I have presented the food photo :grinning: . Actually, @AbdullahAM was in a rush this time, to save time we deleted this option from this meet-up. Next time you will see @PritishB Dada. Thanks a lot for your keen observation, thanks for encouraging us to work more on accessibility.

This is one of the most comprehensive accessibility meetup recaps that has come up in recent years.

Though taking a photo even today surprises many people like the watchman as seen in the photo above, which is a pity.

@MukulR and @AbdullahAM - you are champions in the making.

Great photos, as usual :+1:

Thanks for hosting the Meetup at Mirpur 10 Bus Stand Area and for sharing the recap with us, @MukulR bhai. This looks like a busy place. Thanks a lot for your nice comments and appreciation @TusharSuradkar . The surprising man you are talking about is a security guard. Normally security guard cannot sit during duty time, but he was sitting and we took his photo. Perhaps he became surprised or scared of our taking photo :grinning: . Thanks a lot for your nice observation.

You are absolutely right @SalmaanN Bhai, it is really a busy place. Every day thousands of people come to here to get in or get down from a bus. There are several hospitals, shopping malls, commercial buildings etc. Our national cricket stadium is just a minute walking away from here. So, including all, this is really a busy place. Thanks a lot for your comments and appreciation.

This is exactly my experience @MukulR

When people are doing their job they are not bothered with what other people are doing - like taking a photograph are not.

It is only when they are scared, like caught not doing their job, is when they object to taking photos- they have the fear

Thank you for the details, @MukulR bhai. The photos of the accessibility features you have captured will be really helpful in Google Maps especially for such busy places like this as I think the busy places may be searched frequently.

We do not have any lockdown now. Everything is getting normal here day by day @Sophia_Cambodia . Thanks a lot for your nice comments.

Thanks a lot for your nice comments and appreciation dear @Nyainurjanah . I am just trying to do something that is possible by me. Though it is not anything big towards the betterment of the disabled, but if we do our small part it will bring something good to them. Thanks once again. Stay safe.
