Dear Local Guide Friends,
I am Mahbub Hasan, pleased to provide a summary of the 9th Anniversary Meet Up organized by the Bangladesh Local Guides on March 10th.
Our community is one of the oldest and largest local guide communities with over eight and a half thousand members in the Facebook group. Our group discusses and resolves map-related issues and local guide activities in Bengali.
Despite the actual anniversary date being on March 7, we chose to celebrate it on March 10 due to our busy schedules and holidays.
We invited about 25 community members, including former and current volunteers, as well as Active Local Guides and Guiding Star Accredited Local Guides, to participate in this celebration meet-up. We organized the meeting in one of our memberâs restaurants.

At this event, we aimed to Support Small Businesses and organized a promotion at the local guide memberâs restaurant to help him out.
The discussions included planning for the annual Mega Meet Up, where local guide members from all over Bangladesh come together to discuss and decide on upcoming events. This year, we agreed to organize the event in Kaptai, Chittagong, after Eid-ul-Fitr.

Furthermore, we discussed the South Asia Meetup, which has not been held in the past three years due to various COVID-19 restrictions.
Following everyoneâs consent and advice, we plan to organize the meetup in Nepal, also known as the daughter of the Himalayas in mid-August.
Lastly, we would like to share some photos of the meet-up with you.
