[Recap 4] - Accessible Amravati - Shri Shivaji Science College

Hi Everyone,
This is my fourth Accessibility For All-The Movement post. This time I have done accessibility check up in my College. College name is Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati. There are number of courses offered by the college from 11 12th, B.Sc and M.sc. College is specially famous for B.Sc in Vidarbha region. Almost B.Sc toppers of Amravati University are from this college. Currently I am doing my PG from here. There are two buildings one is Main and other is Mathematics building. Both buildings are accessible friendly. Main entrance don’t have Wheelchair Ramp but there are another gate which are accessible friendly. Ground floor of both building are accessible by wheelchair. I am noticing most of the buildings have only ground floor accessible by Wheelchair but not first.Similar is the case with this buildings. I believe that Education is basic need of everyone and such educational institutions must be accessible by everyone, from ground floor to top floor with lifts.Classrooms,Toilet and Parking are accessible friendly Also I have added Accessibility information of this college on Google Maps. So this was all about my 4th accessible checkup.

:wheelchair: Accessibility :

Wheelchair Accessible Entrance : Yes

Wheelchair Accessible Ramp :Yes

Wheelchair Accessible Parking :Yes

Wheelchair Accessible Toilet : Yes

@kunal_gajewar thanks for tagging me my friend!

Yes indeed I believe college is one of the educational facility that has to be accessible friendly. Education is for everyone not for certain people only.

Thank you for doing such a good job in highling this college!

Wow! another accessibility update by you! kudos to you @kunal_gajewar ! Keep going and keep posting on connect.

One thing I would like to add is usually if there is a separated walking pathway for the blind person, then usually we can say that is accessible for the visually impaired person. Like here you can see from my last meetup at Kalyani station-

I think @TusharSuradkar @KalyanPal will agree with me on it.

Stay safe and happy.

Have a great day!

Hi @kunal_gajewar

I noticed that you posted this in Local Stories and not Meet-Ups where recaps are normally shared.

If you don’t mind, please let me know why?

Cheers

Thank you for reading my post. One Google Moderator told me that you can’t post Recap done by only yourself in Meet Ups. Meet-Ups are those where more than 2 3 local guides meet. @MortenCopenhagen

Thank you @PritishB . And yes I agree with you that places should have such seperate ways for Visually Impaired person. But i aslo think that if there is enough area for walking (more than 7 8 feet) then it can also be accessible by visually impaired person.

Hi @kunal_gajewar

Another accessibility meetup that is simply superb.

I note and appreciate you have given lot of importance and care to take the photos from the right perspective.

I especially liked where you have marked the entry as accessible even when it is closed. This is good thinking.

As suggested by @MortenCopenhagen , you can post the recap in the Meetups section even if it is a solo meetup and no one attended.

If you arranged and published

a meetup and then invited everyone, it is a fully qualified meetup.

Thank you @TusharSuradkar for your valuable comments. Since you @TusharSuradkar @MortenCopenhagen have wide experience in Connect forum, I am making this post as meetup. Thank you!

Hi @PritishB

Hi @kunal_gajewar

If there is a tactile path, it can be included.

What Kunal has marked as accessible for the visually-impaired or blind is also fine since perhaps he means it is a hindrance free path.
