[RECAP] #36 Photowalk - Maharagama Sri Lanka 28.04.2018

It was my first meetup as well as the first one which I hosted, so it was a bit challenging and I was a bit nervous because didn’t know what will the outcome be. in the end everything went well and the meetup was a great experience.

when I first heard about the #36 photo walk concept by @PaulPavlinovich I was so excited because I too am a photographer. and it was a good opportunity to sharpen my photography skills and all the local guides to improve their photography skills as well.

I came to the meetup location - Anusha cinema theater - maharagama at about 9.00am, on the way I picked up Isuranga from maharagama @IsurangaD who is a friend of mine and the one who moderating the Maharagama local guides community. in a while we were joind by Asanka from athurugiriya @AsankaJayasuriya it was the first time we met and all of us got to know each other for few minutes sharing our stories and about our selves and about why we are having the 36 photo walk what the concept is and why such one is important. while having our friendly chat we didn’t forgot to record some video footage to share with you all and also took some photos to remember the moment

I attached the video camera to my backpack in a fashion where it will be overseeing us on the photo hunt, so my hands are free to take photos for the 36 photo walk with my DSLR. first we went to the train station to take some pictures. all of us were busy capturing photos of the train station and it’s surrounding.

capturing photos we went along the roads and we stopped for a cool drink because the heat was so intense these days and we were so tired. we realised the pastry shop we went had few reviews on google maps and after having our drinks we took some photos both 360 and static and uploaded them in to the maps along with reviews

this time of the year Buddhists around the world celebrates Vesak festival which marks the birth, attending nirvana and death of the Lord Buddha it falls on Vesak full moon poya day. people are buying vesak lanterns and decorative items. we had the opportunity to capture those moments as well.

we went to the boralesgamuwa lake to take the final photos of our 36 photo walk though we were so tired after walking under the intense heat. there we were able to take some interesting photos of nature and surroundings.

then we conclude our meetup, all three of us had a really good time, shared so many knowledge on photography and we planned many meetups for the upcoming months. finally we went to have lunch, after a delicious meal we went our own ways ending a successful meetup.
