Reaction Video to the Guiding Stars 2022 announcement video

I’m sure everyone was thrilled to watch the announcement video from Google Local Guides team for this years’ Guiding Stars!! Needless to say, it was amazing and I’m super chuffed and happy for this year’s Guiding Stars!! Well done, congrats and I’m sure you’ve been waiting ever so patiently to finally talk about it!! :sunglasses:

Originally, I wanted to do a live watch party, just like in last year, but I did a stress test on my computer system the night before and decided that it couldn’t cope with what I wanted to do. I was frustrated and disappointed because of the time spent trying to set it up but after a night’s sleep, I went back to the ‘drawing board’, scaled my production down to the bare minimum and voila… managed a post announcement, not live, but a recorded session with two guests @TheRealKristin and @PeteMHW !! Thanks ever so much for the last minute participation!!! :kissing_heart:

Also, this is the shortened version of the Guiding Stars 2022 announcement video.

Anyway, I hope that the community will enjoy the discussion/reaction that we had. I certainly picked up quite a few things that I will need to do differently in terms of my contributions to Google Maps! It’s a bit long but I think well worth the watch! And, of course, we were super happy and delighted when all 54 Local Guides have been announced!! Well done again!!

So… have you seen the announcement video (the full version with the mentions on the upcoming feature drops)? I’m curious to know what your thoughts are on the various new features; Immersive View, Neighbourhood Vibes, improved Community Feed, Structured Reviews (rolling out globally), and increased focus on Video Contributions? And did you like the new category in Guiding Stars; Sustainability Stars? Should there be more categories in the future and if so, what would it be?!

As usual, leave your comments below! :+1:

I caught most of the announcement video but missed a few bits and pieces due to a weak connection, so it was fun watching through your reaction video @AdrianLunsong along with the great commentary from @TheRealKristin & @PeteMHW . And of course, always great hearing that heart-warming jingle!

Congrats to all the recognized Local Guides! I’m pretty psyched for neighborhood vibes and community feed. I remember there being more UGC, such as lists, when I used to search for cities, so it’s great to see something like that coming back.

Interesting discussion around the community feed and explore tab and I think your idea on the direction of this type of thing in Maps makes sense. I use the existing explore tab a lot now and I definitely use that currently to see great looking food that is actually within reach near me!

@SP31 The FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is very real when browsing through the community feed! And I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed the discussion! For me, it’s definitely something that I will need to pay more attention to so that I don’t miss any hidden gems in my area!

Awesome job @AdrianLunsong Another superstar in the community. You do so much with all your videos and articles. :two_hearts: Great idea for the watch party.

I watched your announcement video and I watched your unboxing too (from last year, I believe). I was so excited to see what the 2022 gifts would look like. I remember how last year you got the jean jacket and you tried to keep the packaging neat for memento.

I love all of them. I was looking for this website https://letsgradeit.com/review/allassignmenthelp/ when I accidentally came across your post. Because I am not very good at writing essays, I am looking for online assistance. When I was searching for that website on Google, this website helped me uncover the greatest essay writing services available.
