Reaching out with Google Maps

When I started using Google Maps, it asked me about the places I’d visited and if I’d like to review them. So that’s how I started off as a Local Guide, sometime last year. Later this turned into proactive reviewing of restaurants and eateries. Adding some extra details to these reviews are what makes them even more appealing. For example, mentioning if a restaurant has car parking, wheelchair accessibility, some exceptional rules or decent restrooms helps people choose places better.

I found that writing about eateries is a good option because there is always a lot of content in this area and well, food brings people together. Secondly, I’d love to give people directions to other businesses but somehow only the food places are what I remember best. Also, whether people go out shopping, clubbing or to the movies, they’re sure to look for a good eating place, either before they begin or after they’re done.

Initially, I didn’t realise that my reviews were useful to a lot of people but when I did, I made it a point to put up reviews of as many good places I’d visited. There are still so many I haven’t been able to put up and I hope to do so soon.
