Navtri is observed for different reasons and celebrated differently across India. In Gujarat goddess durga is worshiped for 9 days, it symbolises the victory of good over evil. It is like a 9 day music festival where people wear beautiful traditional clothes and dance like crazy all night.
Dress code - Chaniya choli and odhani is worn during Navratri. Men wear kadiya and dhoti. It has beautiful mirror and thread work, looks very colourful. The look is completed with oxidized ornaments.
Dance style - Garba is a folk dance of Gujarat. It is a joyful style of dance, based on a circular pattern. Footwork is the most important part of this dance form, hands swing according to music. (Do watch the video for some amazing garba move!)
Since childhood I have always been excited about Navratri. There use to be a garba night near our house, the best dancers were given prizes. I never won the prize but the memories which I made are priceless.
I have taken more videos so that you too can feel the aura of the navratri night also I wasn’t able to click photos as I was busy doing garba. The title should be Navratri video walk
P.S. - This meet up was organised by me as a part of Durga pooja photowalk meet up initiative of Bangladesh local guides @MahabubMunna
Watched your garbha videos and pics also. I have been in West Bengal also. They celebrate it Durga pooja and that too same zeal and divinity like Gujrati people’s celebrate Ambe Pooja and Garba dance. I am very lucky to be here in Ahmedabad.

I thank you to revive my Ahmedabad Garba memories.

Once upon time, I attend durga Pooja, That was Amazing and Wonderful… I never seen that type of Pooja…
I stand up, upto 4-5 hours during Pooja, the way They do, durga Poojan, It’s Very Beautiful…
And I also love to listen, Bangali Language…
Very Sweet Language… .
I don’t compare, but sometimes I feel that, Durga Pooja Beats Ganesh Pooja… Because the Way of Presentation and Variety of things during Durga Pooja , It’s make it Highly Special…
It’s a real music and dance fest. Photo Walk is addressing the tradition and Garba is popular throughout the Nation. I may add a little as it’s just not a Photo Walk instead it’s a Catwalk !!
