I express my condolences to those who passed away this time due to the earthquake and tsunami. And I also wish to express my condolences to those who suffered from the disaster and wish for the earliest possible reconstruction.
My thoughts are with the people in Indonesia, but I lack the funding to be able to donate & contribute! There are folks who have said that a lot of the fund raising groups are mismanaging the money & it doesn’t go to the places they say they are raising money for.
I want to share a bit of the experience that I have about earthquake in Central Italy:
Found Donation: It is always welcome, @TeJeWi , but only through Certified associations that operate Locally, like IFRC.
Support in creating a Mymaps with information about rescue centers, place where to find help, doctors, closed roads, and share it on all social media
Shipping of goods is always welcome too, but not in this step, where the situation is not controlled. Use a Certified associations to understand what is needed, before to send any good
Blood donation, is definitely needed
It is a short list, but definitely is the base for an help
The person finder sounds really cool! Hopefully it will seamlessly integrate for free, for folks who don’t have an income & for those who can’t afford Internet access? Since there are big storms & hurricanes too, how come Google doesn’t have a STORM/WEATHER APP, which would be beneficial for a free service to the PUBLIC around the world?
Being from Indonesia myself, I must say, it’s been hard reading the news these past few days. Unicef has also set up an emergency relief page for the tragedy if you want to help:
