For the Love of #LocalGuides program #Food & #Travel , here’s a Re-cap post on Penang International Food Festival #PIFF 2019Penang , Malaysia is one of the most visited states and known worldwide for its travel attractions, lush beaches, architecture, religious sites, British-era landmarks, World Heritage sites and its glorious food.
There is so much to experience here and something is always happening in Penang Island that attracts both tourists and the locals.
Penangites take pride in their Local food and specially the mouth watering Local street food that you can only experience here.
The Penang government together with Tourist board laid out many plans to encourage and promote tourism in this rich state and one such event that features sumptuous food is the Penang International Food Festival (PIFF).
PIFF returned to the streets of #GeorgeTown #Penang #Malaysia for the 3rd consecutive year which showcased the authentic local food in Penang region. Though traditional food from Malaysian peninsula and some International food stalls were also set up, but the main theme revolved around the delicacies from Penang and its no surprise that it featured the seafood.
The food paradise was set in GeorgeTown this year from 13th to 28th April. Due to busy work schedule I only managed to attend the closing ceremony which was held on Penang Mainland at #DesignVillage.

My Main goal? to try almost every single Local food
Mission Accomplished? I am sure you will be able to guess, once you are done reading the post

The first look was awesome with a Culinary competition among the top Local chefs.
It was amazing watching live cooking, which is an art of precision, passion, dedication, top skills and years of constant practice. I personally could not rank a particular dish, as to my eyes they were all perfect.
My next task was to look for two traditional Penang Food Items (preferences may vary, but I was introduced to these two delicacies when I first arrived in Penang and since then I have been looking to try the most authentic of them)
- Asam Laksa
- Char Kway Teow
Hands down, I had the chance to taste the best of both during PIFF 2019.
(Here is an Unedited video of some of the food stalls)
Here’s what my favorite Asam Laksa looks like.
They also featured a vintage style Photo Booth Van which costed only (1 Ringgit). It instantaneously CL18 memories back, where I had round of crazy groupfies with my #LocalGuides friends.
I believe PIFF is a wonderful idea to showcase your culture to the world. Food and the love of your food tells a story about your roots, heritage and progression. If you are planning to visit Malaysia or Penang in particular (let’s say April next year), you MUST pin #PIFF to the top of your schedule.
Happy to be living in such a rich and multicultural state and proud to have a platform where I can share my experiences with my buddy #LocalGuides and the World.
