Last week, one of my biker friends took me to Wadi El Rayan; which in Arabic
translates to 'Rayan’s Valley’. It took us about an hour in his noisy off-road bike to get there, so I was relieved just to arrive.
I always heard about this valley that, I understood, is an oasis and that was it. But when I saw it, I never thought the desert can be that beautiful. The way how vegetation mingles with the sand dunes and ponds was just breathtaking.
Rayan’s Valley is at a region in Egypt called ‘Fayoum’, it is less than a 100 Kilometers south east of Cairo and you can drive there easily via paved roads, no need for the off-road bike unless you’re one of them!
It will be an enjoyable day trip. Guaranteed. Look at the pictures I took on the way back
