Today I will take you to Delhi’s hidden gem or lesser known “Sunskriti center” (Museum) Aya Nagar, this sunskriti center is located in Anandgram. It has three museums inside which are dedicated to household Indian items. And there are terracotta statues and textiles here. This center is closed on Mondays and is open from 10 am to 5 pm on other days. And the special thing is that entry is free here.

Discription:-
Gorakhpur, Deoria and Kushinagar are important districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and have their own identity in terracotta art, and the reason for my visit to the Sunskriti center was to visit the Terracotta Museum, because I wanted to present the art of my region to the world.

Discription:-
Gorakhpur:
Gorakhpur Terracotta art is centuries old and it is famous for its intricate and beautiful designs.

The idol of Maa Kali and other attractive idols are made using special clay found locally, due to which it has a distinctive red-brown color.
The tradition of terracotta in the Gorakhpur region has been going on for generations, and the artisans here make elephants, horses, lamps, and various types of idols.
This art has also been included in the ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) scheme of our Uttar Pradesh Government.
Gorakhpur’s terracotta has also received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, which certifies its uniqueness and origin.
Gorakhpur is more famous for terracotta art, but there are also terracotta craftsmen in Deoria and Kushinagar who make different types of decorative items and idols.

Description:-
If you ever visit the rural temple or Devi Maa’s place in these districts of Purvanchal, then the terracotta idol will reflect the local culture and traditions.
Bonus - By the way, Kushinagar is also known for banana fiber products.
In short, Gorakhpur is a major center of terracotta art and has its own distinct style and identity, and Deoria and Kushinagar are also contributing to this art. & sunskriti center Once you visit here, you will want to come back again and again.

Very well conceived post @ShailendraOjha . A very big thanks for bringing out this post. I have 2 Connections with this post. One is the artisans works of Terracotta. I love artefacts very very much. The 2nd connection is that of Gorakhpur, Deoria and Kushinagar, I visited these places in 1999 before proceeding to Nepal. The stay here was not in our itinerary, but we had to stay here for a day. Hence thie visit to this place is very special to me. We visited Goraknath Temple and Kushinagar this time. Thanks again for sharing this post.

Hello dear friend @ShailendraOjha
Sanskriti centre looks great!
Terracotta idols are extremely rare in South India…
Of course, a lot of statues are seen in different parts of South India.

This is totally a new information for me, dear friend.

Interesting topic and helpful photos.

How much time do you need to explore the Sanskriti Centre…I’m very much interested in such museums and heritage centres…
Thanks for sharing this interesting post, dear friend.
Regards with gratitude.

Dear @TravellerG  me and my tiny team were in a hurry to have a light breakfast and there was nothing to eat except cold drinks in the cafeteria at that time, so we could not go to the workshop area where people from India and abroad learn many types of arts, there are all kinds of workshops here, so we could not go to that area, so we left in 2 hours only.
Thanks dear TG :folded_hands:
