Raw eggs on rice "TKG"🥚🍚 #DeepJapan

(TKG @YasumiKikuchi )

Why can you eat raw eggs:open_mouth::egg:!? This is Japanese hygiene. Its name is “TKG”. Because it ’s called “卵かけご飯 Tamago Kake Gohan” in Japanese:egg::rice:.

This countryside restaurant next to the egg farm is all you can eat raw eggs:yum::egg::egg::egg:! There are several such farmhouses in the countryside. Because you can eat raw eggs that were picked up a few minutes ago:rooster::egg::rocket::fork_and_knife:. You can know the true taste of the ingredients:smiley:.

However, even in Japan, not all eggs can be eaten raw. Eggs exclusively for raw food are on sale. This is sterilized.

In fact, Japan before the Edo era was said to be “cursed when an egg is eaten” and did not eat at all:man_vampire::skull_and_crossbones:. Probably because they experienced abdominal pain. However, since the arrival of various Western dishes using eggs from Portugal, We became admired for its super-high-quality ingredients:sparkles::egg::drooling_face:, and today Japan has expanded to the third largest consumption in the world:egg::egg::egg:.

These 6 pickles are the most familiar in Japan:rice::cucumber:. Usually TKG shops can also enjoy pickles.

There is a so-called raw food culture in Japan. If you can eat raw, you can enjoy the best taste of the ingredients as much as possible. Raw fish you know well. And animal meat is often eaten raw.

(TKG @YasumiKikuchi

Why is this possible🤔? This is because Japanese food hygiene is delicate. In Japan, the importance of enteric bacteria has been considered. Raw diet is also related to intestinal health. However, such Japanese people sometimes break their stomachs. The boundary of raw eating is very severe. Therefore, even we may detect their physical condition and eat😅.

Please tell us about the raw food culture in your country.

Hi @YasumiKikuchi ,

Woww! This is the first time I see boiled rice with raw eggs. However if the eggs are freshly taken from the farm, the might still be warm, hehehe. : )

When I hear drinking/eating raw eggs, I connect this thought with the opera singers who drink raw eggs to strengthen their voices. But should you be in the wild, it is not very good to choose raw eggs as you can get poisoned by some bacteria.

Do you usually add some spices to this dish? ^ ^

@YasumiKikuchi I haven’t tried this dish before as I like my meal cooked well. But the plate with pickles looks yummy. I think I will try it next time I visit Japan and I will let you know how I like it. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I enjoyed your post and photos @YasumiKikuchi however, while I enjoy many raw foods, I’m not sure if I would enjoy TKG. The different foods of different cultures just never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for sharing.

Hello @TsekoV ,
As you say, the general image of the world is raw eggs that are consumed nutritionally by opera singer and Rocky. Please eat Japanese eggs. You will be surprised that there is no raw smell:yum:! Generally, mix the soy sauce exclusively for TKG:egg::cup_with_straw:

I believe the taste mixed with soy sauce must be simply irresistible, isn’t it @YasumiKikuchi ?

I also wanted to ask you what does Tamago Kake Gohan (TKG) means exactly? The English translation is raw eggs on rice, right? Does it mean the same in Japanese?

Hi @TsekoV

It’s as delicious as you can imagine😋. “TKG” is called “Tamago Kake Gohan” in Japanese. Tamago is egg🥚, Kake is pouring🥤, Gohan is rice🍚. You right.
