- I’m seeing an issue where I have very low rating counts vs the number of ratings I’ve given… I’ve tried leaving a rating and not a review and the rating still doesn’t show up. I’ve literally rated hundreds if not thousands of places around the world and maps shows 40 total ratings…anyone have any ideas? My rating count hasn’t gone up in ages, so I’m kind of stuck. We don’t really get anything out of this besides fake internet points, so I’d at least like to get them if I can.

Hi @Daniel60613 you only get a rating count when you leave a rating only, if you leave a rating with the review your one point for the rating is included within the points for the review.
It is better to leave reviews with the rating so your count being zero is healthy.

@PaulPavlinovich thanks for the feedback! I realized that leaving reviews negated the ratings, but I’ve left hundred of ratings on places I haven’t reviewed, generally places I was at while looking for another place to go and maps asked me for a rating. Does anyone know if it’s possible that when maps asks for a rating if it doesn’t count it towards your ratings?
@Daniel60613 Normally it would unless it thinks you’re spamming. Did you do them in bursts or one every now and then?

I generally do them whenever maps pushes them to my phone… IE I’ll see a notification that I can leave a rating for somewhere I’ve been and I’ll rate a few places since they keep prompting me to. I’m not rating dozens of places unprompted or doing anything else that would (I think) trigger spam protections. I honestly can’t figure out why my ratings score is so low… Generally if I rate somewhere I also answer the associated questions that maps asks, so I’d think that would be proof that it’s not bot traffic.

From looking at your Google Maps public profile I see the 40 ratings that you mention. Is this the number of ratings that you see from within your Contributions area?

@AdamGT yup, that’s the same number of ratings I’ve had for at least a year… I assume it’s stuck or something? Like I said, not a huge deal since we don’t actually get anything for this bit it’d be nice to see how many places I’ve contributed to. I love to travel and it’s nice seeing thing like how many people have seen a picture or read a review.

Hi @Daniel60613 there isn’t much emphasis on ratings alone without a review. I would recommend that for places you’ve visited you’d be better off writing a review for it and rating it.

Hey guys, thanks for getting back to me. I specifically added ratings only this weekend without reviews, and none have shown up on my profile. It’s not a huge deal, and I do try to leave reviews when i can. I just find it annoying that I take time out of my day to at least rate businesses to give others an idea and Google isn’t recording them. I don’t even know if it’s actually capturing my ratings, which makes me much less inclined to leave them.
Anyway, thanks again for all the help! I’ll see if I can figure this out.
