Hello guys, this is Hanson from Taipei Taiwan. I’m passionate about influencing people around me through internet product.
For me, the mission as a Local Guide is more than sharing beautiful spots and terrific restaurants with people who are already involved in this program. Most importantly, to influence people who seldom use Google Maps around me in the real world, and start to make contribution and benefit others. Thus I often share what I’ve done in Local Guides program with my friend, and let them know that apart from restaurants and attractions, we can comment on any place we want.
Last year I went to a friend’s apartment in Tainan with a group of friends for Chinese New Year. Before heading back to Taipei, we asked the administrative officer of the community to take a photo of everyone shaping a star together in front of the entrance. On the way back to Taipei, I rated the community with a five-stars rating, updated our photo, and left a comment as below:
“The administrative officer of this community is very enthusiastic and is willing to take pictures for the residents with patience; IN ADDITION, the residents in this community have a high standard of living since they have implemented resource recycling seriously.”
Then I asked all these friends to search this community on Google Maps. They all laughed crazy and “Liked” this comment. Soon after, the photo of us became the cover photo of this community as I expected. All Google users who viewed this community saw our weird photo (Not sure if it helps higher the price of this community…).
Since then, some of my friends in that trip have started to join the Local Guides program and make contributions to the Google Maps. One of them even shared the Ramen list on Google Maps with me to explore restaurants that are highly recommended by each other.
I am proud of letting people around me to know the Local Guides program and join this big family. And I will keep doing it consistently!
