Ratha Yatra is a festival that involves moving deities Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Sudarshana on a chariot.
Ratha Jatra also referred to as
Rathayatra or
Chariot festival is a public procession in a chariot. It is a world-famous festival of Lord Jagannath. Originated from Puri, Orissa now every corner of the world celebrates the festival usually involves an annual procession (journey) of a deity’s idols.
In Medinipur, The Jagannath Temple at Nutan Bazar was built in 1851 and was supposedly at the request of a descendant of the Ganga dynasty. Every year a big procession starts from Jagannath Mandir and after traveling whole city it end at “Masir Bari”.

Hello @SanjoyKundu ,
Thank you for sharing details about this event and those amazing photos with us.
Honestly, it’s the first time that I hear about this particular festival. Do you attend the celebrations each year?
Is there something specific that one must do or avoid to do during that day?
