"Ratan Mahal" untouched beauty of Gujarat, India

Ratan Mahal,

the santuary well known for Sloth Bear around the entire region. In March 1982 it was declared as The Wild Life Santuary. The habits and behaviour of the sloth bear, Ratan Mahal Wild Life Santuary offers a unique opportunity as the sloth bears are densely populated here. The sanctuary also has a large population of leopards. The main attraction for sloth bears are the great Mahuda Trees which easily available in this region, this mahuda is the favourite food of sloth bears. bamboo trees also one can find in the periphery of the forest.

The Panam River which passes through the forest and the dam is also built in near by city Godhra. this is very dense forest and one should go with the forest guard as they very well aware from the natural behaviour of sloth bears.

some of the species we can easly spot there are Cobra, krait, Saw-scaled viper, Russel’s viper and Bamboo pit viper.Python, Rat snake, Red sand boa, Trinket are the non-venomous snakes also found there. Star tortoise, Flap-shell turtle, Chameleon and Termite hill gecko are also found here.

one of the important forest animal which become the major attraction for all tourists is “The flying Squirrel”.

Best season to visit this Ratan ahal Santuary is after the Monsoon when the whole forest area looks beautiful. We all should take care of this santuary so our natural species lived there and can contrbute the entire cycle of nature, I think this is the biggest role of any Nature Lover and the Tourist.
