Adventure Arises ! 
What started off as a casual hangout topic, turned out into one of the amazing road trips for me. A thousand kilometer throttle from Mumbai to the westernmost point of India, where lies Narayana Sarovar, one of the Panch Mahasarovars ( 5 Sacred lakes as per Hindu Mythology). The road trip was destined for Rann of Kutch, but are you even an explorer if you don’t scout offbeat places and twist your itinerary every time?
We traveled to Koteshwar temple, which is situated on the landbank of lakhpat, where Indian territory almost ends towards the west. Few nautical miles and you’re in international waters. There is boat ride available to go till Int’l waters to explore hidden places. The GTDC guest house was well equipped & hygienic despite of being distant from locality. Spent 2 days there exploring offbeat places near border and hopped our way to the Rann of Kutch. Limitlessly serene white plains and saltpans left us amazed. Dholavira, dhordo, kalo dungar are some of the places you must not skip. Sunset at the white Rann hits different. Detoured a bit to Mata no madh where gujrati community considers a great abode.
Adventure was not hitting the required limit, so we visited a border which is not allowed for civilians without any prior permit. Permission & approvals taken, to drive into area guarded by Army & border security force, 50 kilometres towards unknown. The experience was surreal and spine chilling indeed. Imagine a fence guarded by forces, and no one in the vicinity of kilometres. Prior approval from Indian Army gets you to such places. Road network and condition across GJ is amazing, so doing a roadtrip is quite a cakewalk unless you’re driving lol..
Sunsets & stargazing sessions hit different at such places. The cuisine is phenomenal despite being majorly veg.
On our way back from kutch, we did visit earthquake museum in Bhuj, biggest city in Kutch region. Museum gave us sheer goosebumps as if we were actually witnessing the earthquake happening there.
Had some delicacies packed from Kutch for home, and drove out way back home. Pitstop at Ahmedabad was must with all that breakfast hogging.
If you’re planning, Nov - March is the best period to visit kutch. Book prior to get cheaper stay at Rann Utsav, the kutch festival.
