Ahmadabad is well known for ancient monuments of ancient archeology. We were thoroughly enjoying our Ahmedabad trip. In fact, the legacy mesmerized here as we thought.
This prominently beautiful mosque was built in1514 AD during the reign of Sultan Muzaffar Shah II, by the Rani Sabrai widow of Sultan Mahmud Begada who was the seventh Sultan of Gujrat. The complete harmony of architecture and construction of this mosque has become a world class heritage with the cylindrical minarets and the magnificent, delicate and exquisite carvings on columns, Mehrabs, of prayer hall even on minarets. Domes on roof and decorated turrets. And this is such a beautiful mosque alone in Ahmedabad of its kind. We were stunned by its Classical workmanship. And I could get the opportunity to offer Salat in main prayer hall.
The fine adorned and brilliant carvings including the floral motifs are indicative of the Rani’s grace. The Sabrai’s mausoleum is situated in front of the Mosque towards the East. It’s covered by fine stone screens for free circulation of air to the inner chamber. Twelve pillars are supporting the complete roof which is crowned by a large dome and four small domes. Main grave in the central chamber is of Rani Sabrai.
This is a precious Architectural marvel and masterpiece, an inscription is fixed at the central mehrab that it was built by Rani Sabrai. And the mausoleum too.
It’s a major attraction among history buffs wanderers soulseekers art and architecture lovers and heritage lovers.
