Randoms of Dubai life

If you check out what I review on Google Maps, you’ll see that it’s pretty random. One day I’ll be costume shopping to cosplay at the comic con (shout out to Mystique, Al Barsha for hooking me up with a killer Morticia Addams number) and the next I’ll be at a three-year-old’s birthday party in a children’s museum (OliOli, I didn’t even know that was a thing!) And the truth is, life is random. At first, I tried to only review specific places and then, one day, I looked around and thought to myself - Dubai is a massive metropolistic (Is that even a word? It is now!) mishmash of people and places. And we all do different things in different places; there is no one singular aspect of life that defines us. So I decided to post about anywhere and everywhere I went to. And that’s when I really started to enjoy myself on Google Maps and that’s what I love posting about! The city that I’ve called home for the last 15-ish years has so much to offer and there are always new people - singles, couples, and families - from all over the world moving here, waiting to call Dubai home. So, I figure, if the randomness of my life can make life easier for someone else, why not make it happen?

Coffee shops - check (best coffee and hot chocolate: Raw Al Quoz ; best eggs benedict: Stomping Grounds, Jumeirah 1; best carrot cake: Limetree Cafe all branches).

Hotels - check (Jumeirah Group hotels pretty much have it all whether for business or pleasure but the Rove hotels are making their presence felt with the younger demographic hard and fast).

Gyms - check (you could say I’m biased because I’m a member at Gymnation but the truth is, I’m a member because every other gym I’ve joined over the last seven years has disappointed me beyond measure).

Restaurants - check (and this is tough when you’re lactose intolerant and insulin resistant with a small budget to play with so ya a7la Azkadenya in Mercato and Texas de Brasil in Emirates Mall, when I say I love you, I mean it!).

Bars - check (Opa in the Fairmont has a fantabulous eponymous signature drink).

Kids play areas - check (OliOli did it for me, I gotta say … and I’m not a fan of little people, so … Splash n Party is pretty cool, too).

Yeah … randoms of the wonderfulness of Dubai life … and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Hi Farid,

Thank you for the feedback. I’ll try and figure out how to upload some photos from my phone asap (long story why I couldn’t do it when I wrote the post).

I really appreciate you taking the time to give me this feedback.
