Ramkhund temple saidpur

This jaman tree is a witness to countless generations. From the priests chanting Rama and Krishna, hindu devotees flocking from the nearby villages and a bit far away Rawalpindi to the cries of Allah Akber, ensuing tribal invasion, the massacre, rapes and carnage during partition. It remained in ruins for sometime and later converted into a school. For decades children flocked around, teachers gossiped in it’s courtyard and now, a part of courtyard is leased out to a restaurant and temple structure is used as a museum. Birds chirping, people chucking while having food and who could forget young couples making love, cuddles, kisses in uphill Margalla treks. There runs a stream of fresh water there and old banyan trees, may be some three centuries old. There are names engraved on marble steps, of believers who donated a part of their savings for temple construction. Heaven knows how many of them were able to make across the radcliffe line alive in 47. Anyway, this place is simply majestic. If you want to take a glimpse of this region before Islamabad, then it’s a must visit folks.
