Quarantine cooking - Garlic chutney

I have an immense love for chutney (general term used for different types of Indian sauces). Chutney accentuates the taste of the food being eaten. There is a chutney for almost every Indian dish!

I’m sharing the recipe to make garlic chutney which is mostly eaten with dhokla, idli, dosa etc.

Steps :

  1. Take red dried chillies, garlic and around one tablespoon of cumin seeds.
Put them in a grinder like this.

Garlic is the main ingredient.

  1. Add half chopped tomatoes if you want to dilute the strong flavor of garlic (Note - optional) and salt to taste.

  1. Grind it until medium coarse paste. (Note - Add half cup water in between)Bad lighting alert!

  2. Heat a one tablespoon of oil and put asafoetida in it.

I could not find spoon on time, so used my hand.

  1. The paste into the oil and let it cook for 2 minutes and done!

Ready!

Tasty red garlic chutney ready to eat.

(P.S. - Lockdown restrictions have been eased in my city.)

Simple and everyday chutney, but definitely this one is fresh and much preferred over the one that is frozen and stored using preservatives and sold in the supermarkets @PriyankaU

Nice photos and animation, thanks for the recipe.
