I was only in 9th class and also I was not the member, to go inside I have to wait minimum 6 years and i was very sad because I love Libraries and Books. But I get this chance after 30 years to go inside this Sunday first time and I was surprised to see its Glory and beauty.
It is extremely Neat and clean,And it has Quiet and calm atmosphere suitable for book reading and I was so impressed to see all its System. The library has a collection of more than 130000 books in English, Urdu Punjabi and many other languages.
It was built in 1866 at the cost of Rs.108,000, contributed by the Punjab Chiefs and leading citizens of Lahore

Later two halls combined by a covered corridor. It has wooden stairs and very beautiful chandlers in central hall The roof was coated, with a decorative carved wooden ceiling stunningly painted in Egyptian and Italian patterns.
