I like sharing information on google maps because it helps other people in a way that you cant imagine.
Recently one of friend started the a Indian restaurant in Hamilton NZ and as he was new in the business he wanted to spread the word for his new venture. I helped him get his place put on the google maps and added photos and all necessary information and to my surprise it reached thousands on views in couple of weeks.
Similarly i have created 3-4 other small Indian restaurants on google maps where the information was not available for them. Google guide gives the opportunity to share the information on right platform.

Vijay that is a very nice way to help friends.
I keep travelling frequently in and out of town.
Besides adding unlisted places which I visit, I also try and add as many small businesses, as I possibly can. Sometimes they are competitors, still I try to put in a kind word, by way of a good review.
Some of these businesses are not comfortable using internet, or don’t understand the power of Google Maps, and have been put on the map by someone else - either some directory service, or some friend. Many times the markers are not pointing to the correct location, so I edit the markers.
This not only helps me in future, it also saves a lot of time, effort and fuel for all people who search after I have helped edit the location / address.
This is my way of giving back to the society.
