One of the coolest things about Google Maps is the amount of power it puts in the hands of us Local Guides. Being from a small island (Oahu) in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, it still blows my mind as to how much of a difference one person can make. When I see the view counts for my photos hit multiple millions, it’s an incredible feeling and it motivates me even more to contribute at a high level for the viewing community, knowing that what I post or say will have an impact on somebody somewhere out there in the world.
My background is writing/blogging, so my natural instinct and passion is to share photos and stories to Google Maps. It doesn’t hurt that I live in a place with some of the most beautiful backdrops and amazing stories to tell. And since Hawaii is my home, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to tell those stories and show people what we’re all about beyond the beaches and palm trees.
