Pushkar - A Culture in itself

I have been visiting Pushkar for last 3 years back-to-back to attend the famous Pushkar Fair. And I know, I am not the only one who hasn’t visited the fair several times, even the persons from the foreign land. This is the best time to visit Pushkar as you will find a lot of hustle at the place.

This fair is held for 9 days every year, the dates can be different every year. This year, in 2019, it stated on 4th November 2019 and marked its end on 12th November 2019.

I was there for two days, i.e., 5th and 6th of November 2019. I booked a dorm in Zostel Pushkar, few days before the visit, so that I can directly crash into my bed for some rest without any hustle of finding the stay.

I took a bus from Jodhpur at 5 am in the morning towards Ajmer city, and then a bus which helped me reach Pushkar bus stand.

5th November 2019 - Day 1:

While I was keeping my bags and camera in the locker, I made 2 friends, one was from Chandigarh and the other was from Jaipur, they were staying right next to my dorm bed. I freshened up and head out with Suchit and Prashant, to check out the place. I am a photographer, and I visited the Pushkar Fair to click some great photographs for my Travel collection. We had our breakfast at local juice and snack corner.

We moved on towards the Fair Ground and the area where camels and horses stay with their owners. This Pushkar Fair is all about the buying & selling of camels and horses and to showcase their dance and beauty. Many persons come from different villages to sell their camels and horses, they groom them accordingly.

We clicked some brilliant frames that day.

We had lunch at the famous Ganga Restaurant where we had Falafel Wraps, which is their key recipe. We headed back to the Zostel in the noon to take some rest and come back to the ground at the time pf sunset to click some great sunset sky.

We ended our day with a game of Snooker, Jenga and Carrom. We had a conversation till 1 am in the night which results in creation of a bond of friendship between 3 strange persons who just met some hours earlier.

6th November 2019 - Day 2:

We woke up early next day at 5 am in the morning to run for having photographs of the beautiful morning golden hour. We geared up and ran towards the Ghat. There are many Ghats in Pushkar. As Pushkar is known as the most religious city in Rajasthan, many people come every year to worship and to take a bath in the holy water of Pushkar Lake. I finally got one awesome picture of the sunrise because of the dramatic cloudy sky.

After that, we reached the top of a sand dune from which we can see the whole city. You can have look over the image at starting of this blog. We clicked photographs all day in search of the best of the best frames.

We had Chai and breakfast at local snack corner and met more and more photographers from all over India, mostly from Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Mumbai. I met some of my loved and followed photographers of Mumbai.

After all the hustle, I came back to my dorm and re-packed to leave for Jodhpur. I took a bus from Pushkar bus stand towards Ajmer, and then a bus towards Jodhpur city. I reached Jodhpur at 10 pm in the evening and journey ended.

This Journey made me 2 new friends, a lot of beautiful memories and created a zeal to visit the Pushkar Fair again next year with some new beautiful frames in mind.

Hey @TsekoV

Thank You for having another look over the images. And thank you for the kind compliments.

Pushkar is a very small religious town. It i almost in a circular form surrounding the main lake which is known as Pushkar Lake. Personally, I love the Savitri Devi Temple in Pushkar which is an enormous height, from the top you can have a look over whole of the Pushkar. I visited this temple 2 years ago.
