I am very glad to announce next meetup of Pune Local Guides. This is a photowalk meetup at Birla Ganesh Temple, Somatane Phata , Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, Maharashtra, India. This is an open temple of Lord Ganesh. A huge idol of Lord Ganesh is built on the top of hill in Somatane near Pune.

Venue: Birla Ganesh Temple

Somatane Phata, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune

Date & Time: Sunday, 28th July 2024 @10.30am (IST / GMT +5.30)

I request to all attendees to gather at parking area of the temple at 10.15am IST.

Meetup Agenda :

We will explore this beautiful temple and capture various photos of Ganesh idol and surrounding area of the hill. After this visit to Ganesh temple, we will have lunch at nearby restaurant.

How to reach:

The meeting place is on the outskirts of the city. Approximately 14km away from Pimpri-Chinchwad and 30km away from Pune Central area. Following options are available to come here:

  1. Come by own car / bike if possible. It is most convenient. Because there are very limited options of public transport available.

  2. You can use Ola - Uber Cab from Pune or Pimpri - Chinchwad area.

  3. By PMPML city bus going to Talegaon or Vadgaon you can get off at Somatane Phata and walk from there. It is 10 minutes away from there.

Note:

  • Entry ticket: No entry fees. Free entry

  • As I mentioned earlier, the temple is situated on the top of hill. To reach upto the temple from parking area, we need to use stairs. (Approximately 180 stair steps)

  • Two-wheeler & For-Wheeler Parking facility is available.

  • Approximate time required altogether for temple visit and lunch: 3 to 4 hours

  • Please do not forget to bring your water bottle and umbrella
