A lot of public bathrooms in my area also have public showers. Any suggestions on a category to best describes these. Can’t find anything.

I do not find any specific category with the name “shower”.
However, the following three categories may serve the purpose. These are:
- Outdoor bath
- Public bath
- Super public bath
Nevertheless, if you feel these are incompatible, you can suggest a new category either through the send feedback route or a suggestion in the idea exchange.
I had thought of public bath but I was thinking people might think it’s like one of those natural mineral bath houses.

With the exception of India, public washrooms are not normally mappable.
In order to map a feature it must have a proper name that you can put in the name field. Most public washrooms have no such name.
What most people don’t realize is that features can have multiple categories, with one of them being designated the primary category. It is only the primary category that you see. An example might be that a McDonalds might have the category “Fast Food Restaurant”, but then also have “Takeout Restaurant”, “Hamburger Restaurant”, and several other categories assigned to it. This is where “Public Washrooms” is meant to normally be used, as a secondary category.
But since features must have a name, not a description, in the name field; this category can’t be used for most stand alone public washrooms.
Nearly all mapped public bathrooms in Australia are named “public Amenities” or public toilets" on Google maps.
Most however are actually named or numbered. So you’re saying we shouldn’t put “public shower” with a category of public bath?

Those are not names, they’re descriptions, and really just a repeat of the category.
You’ve understood correctly, if there’s no actual name for the feature then it shouldn’t be mapped.
