When you try to post reviews with photos, they aren’t published; however, reviews without photos (only ratings and opinions) are published immediately.
Why is this and how can I fix it?
@MortenCopenhagen, I’d be grateful if you could shed some light on this.
Hello @Moises-PE welcome to the Local Guides Connect community!
Photos and videos can be attached to reviews, but the content of media is also checked by an AI filter and if only one of those is rejected, the entire review and all other photos and videos attached to it are hidden to the public.
If that happens, remove the photos from the review and watch, if text-only is accepted. If so, attach the photos one by one, always waiting until is public. If not, try to post that photo directly to the place listing.
You cannot always see, why a photo is rejected. Some times a recognizable face, other times embedded writings can cause problems. In some, very few cases, I was able to resolve the problem by cropping the photo, for example in order to remove a face or some letters, but many times it just doesn’t work.

I find it difficult too add anything to the answer @WilfriedB already gave you.
If you share your Maps profile link we might be able to spot something you could try to improve. But it can easily just be the AI filter acting out (being over sensitive).
Hi @MortenCopenhagen, sorry, I should have been more clear and direct from the start. I’m asking this question for others, as I’m an expert on the Spanish-language Google Maps forums, and we’ve been getting questions like this for quite some time now. This issue was recently escalated to Google Maps community managers, and they tell us it’s a Local Guides issue.
I’m having a similar problem, essentially all the reviews and photos I publish are added to the business as numbers, but when I log out of Google they don’t show up on the business page. I publish my reviews through this form and if you fill it out correctly, your unpublished reviews will be published. Do not edit comments again.
We’ve seen similar reports from other Local Guides on Connect. In most cases, the steps that @WilfriedB provided in his comment have helped the Local Guides find out which photo triggers the moderation system on Maps.
If you think that what you’re reporting is a different issue, please ask the Local Guides to leave a comment in this thread, sharing their operating system and Maps app version. It’d also be helpful to get some screenshots or screen recordings of the issue, so that our team can understand it better.
The reason I’m asking for the Local Guides to comment here is that we can’t troubleshoot issues without additional information directly from those who are affected. Thank you for your understanding.
