I have some observations about uploading pix from iPhone Camera Roll, as follows,
- You are limit to 10 pix at a time. It would be great if the number of pix at one go can be increased, say to 15 or even 20.
- Camera Roll cannot export Panorama shots and videos. These have to be uploaded with Google Map app or website on browser.
- The search results for location names do not readily come up, esp. if the pix are not geotagged.
- Sometimes it crashes, may be due to file size limitation, if there is any.
Then if you use the Google Map app to upload pix to a certain location, there are the following problems,
- You can only upload pix from the Camera Roll, which is in an reverse chronological order, with the most recent one being at the top. If you wish to upload a pix taken 2 months ago, or 2 years ago, you can only scroll down to where it is.
- The pix with geotag around the location being viewed are conveniently pre-selected and come up at the very top, but this only works for pix recently taken. Older pix with geotag around the same location do not get pre-selected.
- It would be great if you can choose the pix by albums or by date taken or by location taken.
If you go to the Google Map website on browser on your computer, you are free to choose where the pix come from in your computer, but there is no pre-selected list of pix with geotag around the location being viewed. That’s also a inconvenience.
It would be great if some improvement can be made to help upload pix from mobile device, both with the Camera Roll app and Google Map app. I am sure Google and Apple can work something out to enhance the interface in this regard.
Cheers,
Larry
