🤔Private picture on google map

Hello,

Google Maps really changed the world :earth_americas:

and made it easy to connect to all the sites with knowing the details, and do not forget the efforts of the local guides, they are partners in success,

but there is a note in some local guides, such as putting personal photos or pictures of his family or pets, we must differentiate between social networking programs and

assistance programs and the guide

just an opinion

I agree. When i see these personal photos i try mark “this isn’t useful”, but this is a really problem!

Well said, @hamad1

I sometimes have to flag the same private and unhelpful photos more than once before they get taken down.

Maybe Google could speed up the system removing such photos after we flag them. And remove some automatically.

Cheers

Yes :+1: Putting personal photos in the profile of the site does not help

Earlier, I did a study with family and friends about their opinion on this, and almost everyone agreed that posting personal photos is not good and others do not benefit from it.

You are right, @hamad1 , @Jennifer-B

Unfortunately some Local Guide post inappropriate photos in maps. Personal photos, selfies, duplicate and near duplicate contents.

It is painful, because that kind of contents are completely useless. For this reason, time ago, I wrote a post to invite the Local Guides to “think as a user” when they contribute: Local Guides in The Mirror - How useful are our contributions?

But sometimes it is hard to report the photos one by one. However, due to the fact that contributing in that way is not only useless, but also a violation of the rules, if you see a behaviour you can report the whole profile. Here is the procedure: You can now report entire profiles for abuse on Google Maps

Some local guides use the feature to upload old postcards, photos from friends, groups, events or upload hundreds of pictures of the place but shot in fractions of a minute.

Yes, I know the photos can be reported. But despite being clear and obvious infractions of the rules, they don’t get taken down. At least one of those mass uploaders is in the top10 of the local guides ranking posted here on localguidesconnect. Google knows it, the mods must know it but they don’t react. I have reported such a profile and did not get a reply and can only check if this guide’s pictures stay online or not. Not a single one has been taken down in a week’s time.

Not even the duplicates get deleted. There’s a company which sells and rents online betting machines to bars. Everytime they put a machine into a bar or restaurant, they add it as a new place “Sportium in bla-bla bar” and add the same three pics they have added hundreds if not thousands of times.

It’s clear that the maps algorithms for detecting this are not working, deactivated or outdated and the mods either close their eyes or have bigger issues to deal with.

Here is a link to a place with currently 215 photos for the same street number and none of them are really related: https://goo.gl/maps/L3tyUpZeLPvTB2BR8 Maybe there is something I just did not understand about Google Maps?
