To me, google map has most of practical information of everything in this world. Before making a move to any destination, the google map tells you some useful information like store availability, how a place looks, traffic on the way, etc. These kind of information can be updated or improved by us, which is amazing because it helps not only us but also anyone using the map. So, I enjoy sharing many things on the google map, like correcting store open hours, and adding any useful information such as price table for services using photos. Although photos aren’t the only thing I share, they are certainly one of the most powerful tools. I explain the reason in the following, using my own use cases and contributions.
Photos: No need of language, what you see is what you get.
View photos: When I plan to go anywhere in the world, what I check are the photos posted on the google map. I like traveling in particular to find and go to places with great views. This can be done and easily on the google map and it’s an amazing function to have and share. The following picture is an example view of my contributions.
Food photos: I’m from Japan, where most restaurants have their menus not just written but described with photos. I found that it’s really an efficient way to show restaurant menus. Unfortunately this is not really common elsewhere in the world. But once you have the google map on your phone, you can look up pictures of the menus! I often use this method to choose what I want. The picture below is an example menu from my posts.
