Dear @baudav

Welcome to Connect!

:confetti_ball:

Here are many experienced Connect moderators and Google moderators They will solve your problem.

Hello @baudav and thank you for reaching out to us.

Please not that some of your contributions may be marked private if they do not adhere to our Maps User Contributed Content Policy (reviews, photos and videos). Please take some time to check your contributions and check what has been marked as private. Photos that do not adhere to Maps User Contributed Content Policy will be made private and are only visible to you.

I just wanted to let you know that I will move your post to the How-tos board because this is the place where Local Guide ask their questions and more.

The photo respect content policy, no change for more year.

This not explain why photo is blocked: https://goo.gl/maps/eSCowbXJ8Q46oNy29

My photo: https://goo.gl/maps/NayrLR4k3urLLdhp6

that fits the place well, and respects the policy, no?

and on the other hand one often finds there instead on these POIs where the photos have been deleted, other photo unrelated to the place. and report these photos as not belonging to the place, has no effect … The SPAM declaration option no longer exists … yet a user who has posted lots of photos that do not correspond to the place.

@baudav

It is difficult to give you more details than what @Ivi_Ge already told you. As your profile is private no one of the photos in your profile is visible to us, so we cannot comment other than with a very general answer.

To add some more detail, I can say that actually we have photos that are:

Public = Visible in the Business Listing

Private = Visible only to you - As @Ivi_Ge said, this means that the photos were identified by an algorithm for potential violations of the rules.

From Community policy :

  • “Take photos that clearly and accurately represent a location …**”
  • “Dark, blurry, and redundant photos will be removed. Users who duplicate photos across locations, … will also be removed.”

Nobody can consider a single photo to say if it is violating the rules. As you can read here above, there are a lot of conditions (like duplicate of or near duplicate, or used in more than one business, just to give you a few example)

In addition, recently I have seen public photos (publicly visible in the profile) not appearing on the business listing.

As I said, as your profile is hidden, you are the only one who can evaluate which one of the conditions apply in your case.

@KamalHossenR , if I remember correctly you was already invited to read the post and not to drop a canned reply, as this can be considered spam, as you do this a lot of times. Do you think it is nice to say “congratulations” to a Local Guide that is posting about an issue? Please don’t say “I am sorry, I will be more careful” because this is what you said already last time

1/ My profile is not private, I only choice to not share all my reviews and photos in my profile. Do not confuse the restriction imposed by Google on photos and what is shared on my profile. All photo shared on Maps are public. I give my opinion on the place, I share photos of the places, but I don’t want to share my life … among other things people who seek advice on a place can read my opinion … those who seek what I like, my places visited do not have to know it.

What I notice after looking at several places where my photos have disappeared; is that each time it was photos put forward (1st photo displayed for the place; normal, since they correspond well to the place). Other SPAM photos have replaced my photo … So I guess some smart spammers report a problem with the photo … and Google simply removes it! Very disappointing considering the time we spend on the photos to hide people, to frame them correctly …

@baudav

Sorry for using the word “private” instead of “restricted” (Manage your Maps profile ). Restricting a profile is perfectly fine, to protect your own privacy, however, as I said already, it makes difficult to give you a detailed answer, because several time the reason for one of more photos to be hidden or private depends of several factors, that may be also not directly related to a single photo.

Several of my photos are not visible in the listing too, especially if showing the logo of the business or arts. The photos are not private, but are not in the listing.

When you share with us a photo that has been made “private” by Google, we will not be able to see it. However, to understand if a photo is made private or simply not displayed you need to compare the public profile with what you see in your side.

Here below an example of what you can see on my side, and the difference between what I see (my private profile - on Left), the public profile (center) and the photos that received points.

Only comparing the profiles you will be really able to understand if a photo has been flagged as private, or if it is only “not displayed” in the business.

Another way to understand if a photo has been made private is that, on desktop, clicking on the thumbnail of a private photo, the photo will not be displayed in big size.

A photo is chosen to be displayed by an algorithm, based on several factors, so there is no way for someone to report a photo for have the photo replaced with another one. If that photo is Spam, you can report it. If the Local Guide is repeating his behavior, the whole profile can be reported: For more details about the procedure, please click :point_right: HERE

Regarding your question about your photo in Mairie de Yutz , I have to say that your 360 is great, but the photo shared with us, IMHO, is a kind of photo that is violating the rules, already shared with you: "Dark, blurry, and redundant photos will be removed."

I would like to ask you, when you respond, to tag the person you are talking with by using @ to generate a tag. The tag will generate a notification, and it will makes easier to follow the conversation

@ErmesT thank you, indeed I was too fast uploading the photo, it was rather this one:

https://goo.gl/maps/f9XNzVq1NQUVfvBD7

I confirm: report a confidentiality problem on a featured photo, block the photo in 1 day. Like on Youtube, is there an option to submit a new exam?

and to be notified when a complaint is made on a photo?

I don’t know, but Google could have a little more respect for those who take the time to add photos manually on Maps?

Instead of ‘stealing’ the photos from the smartphone via Gmaps (option active by default to make proposals for uploading photos to POIs … users wonder what it is to message and press OK … and that’s how we have 15 photos on a place that have no correspondence with the place.)
