Posts of Kanpur Local Guides: An Overview

As I am going to organize a local Guide Meet-up in Kanpur on 17th June (Physical meet-up, face-to-face) so I thought I should mention the no. also i.e. which meet-up is this one in Kanpur. I had a virtual meet-up on 5th June and I enquired with my fellow local guides then no one was aware of this. So in order to know this I analyzed all posts of Kanpur Local Guides. Raw data in tabular form is available here. After analysis, I found that a total of 17 posts were there related to Meet-up out of which 5 posts were having [RECAP]. Though in one post “RECAP” was not used but the post was related to a virtual birthday celebration so I counted it in Meet-up. Thus till now, there were 6 Meet-ups in Kanpur including mines organized virtually on 5th June. Thus on 17th June, we can use the phrase “7th Meet-up of Kanpur Local Guides”

Further, It is evident from the analysis that before me several local guides took the initiative to organize the Meet-up but due to a lack of proper response from other local guides either it was canceled or it was not reported here. Two of my fellow local guides witnessed it in the virtual meet-up held on 5th June. When I went through the posts of the meet-up I found that connect moderators gave the response to each post related to the meet-up. They guided them properly but the lack was at the ground level which I faced too at the initial stage. So, I went through the replies of @DeniGu (Information about shortcomings in my meet-up proposal) @ErmesT (copyright issues along with general help), @KashifMisidia , @MortenCopenhagen ., @TusharSuradkar and @TravellerG again and again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all for guiding me related to the different points of the meet-up. Now I will like to share some of the points which I observed from the table

  1. Total of 59 Local Guides of Kanpur have posted something here on the connect
  2. Total no. of posts till 7th June in the Kanpur thread is 179
  3. 47 local guides have posted only one post on the connect
  4. Maximum of 86 posts have been posted by @vvaibhav655 (His last post related to Kanpur was on 23.01.2022),
  5. Maximum of 93 likes and 61 replies have been given to the vvaibhav655 when he achieved level 10 and posted his achievement on Connect.
  6. There are 3 posts in which not a single like was there.
  7. First post in the Kanpur thread is of @Knightrathod posted on 30.09.2018
  8. Maximum of 85 posts are posted in 2020.
  9. Minimum of 5 posts belong to 2018 followed by 11 posts in 2022(Shown in bar graph 2),
  10. Maximum of the posts are related to achievement

Thank you @2401 for tagging me and for your analysis. Very interesting. I am not surprised to see that most of the posts were written in 2020, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were written between February and June. I haven’t checked your table because my filter is reluctant to allow me to open documents shared with links so I am just guessing this, due to the fact that in the mentioned period a lot of people a lot of people wanted to appear cool, hoping in this way to be selected for the Google Event, unfortunately cancelled due to the pandemic. If I can guess more, I would expect a long series of posts in the Achievement topic. If so I would not count them :slightly_smiling_face:

How did you made the search? Through the search engine of Connect, or also following setting Kampur as a Favorite Location?

It is great that you want to revitalize the Local community, so I wish you Good Luck

Nice analysis and statistics @2401

It is true that various local guides are active on the forum at different time and then their interest later fades off.

If you are more into numbers and data, I’d suggest connecting with and looking at the work of @AdamGT

If your interests are more broad-based like travel, photography, food, etc. I’d suggest connecting with and looking at the work of @NareshDarji who can also add you to the India local guides group where you can seek more support for your meetups.

My best wishes :+1:

@ErmesT sir I made the search following setting Kanpur as favourite location.

  • Your guess is right In 2020 max. posts were written in between Feb. and June (67 out of 85)
  • Maximum posts belong to Achievements

:slightly_smiling_face: I do remember in one of your reply you advised to organise two days Meet -up. After having experience of short duration Meet-up certainly I will go for two days Meet-up. As at the initial stage main challenge is to reach to the local guides.

Interesting, @2401

It must have taken quite some time to collect and tabulate this data. Keep in mind, some Local Guides do not set their location on or mark their posts with their city name like some of us often do.

One thing to consider: Despite all your hard data work, you might not get any or very few participants. Don’t be discouraged by this. It is actually quite normal. You may benefit from cultivating a few local local guides by talking with them, and asking what kind of activities they would like to participate in. And you might even ask them to help you recruit the participants.

All the best and fingers crossed for a successful event on June 17th.

Cheers
