I mostly post photos on my Google Maps. Recently, I started doing the reviews, mostly on restaurants. Being a foodie, I like trying out different new food places whether it’s a coffee shop, food trucks, a full-on restaurant, or even a pub. For the love of food, I have dedicated my instagram for posting only food stuff. It contained some of my personal photos before, but when I realised about 75 percent of my posts were food, I started deleting all the photos that isn’t food. A similar thing is happening to my Google Maps contributions, which now is starting to get filled up with restaurant reviews.
As much as i want to focus on good food places, I believe I can contribute more to the community by also reviewing other establishments. I feel that whenever I add a review on a place I enjoyed, I am directly helping people by sharing them part of my own experience. In that way, they may somehow become encouraged to visit that place and also have a good time, while supporting local businesses in turn.
Many don’t realise that reviews of places help people online to decide their trips, where to grab their next brunch, discover their next good coffee, or whether or not they can bring their pets in a certain establishment. As a local guide, my goal is not only to promote businesses in my community, but also share good experiences.
