I understand we can upload only 1000 photos in local guides connect ,likewise is there limitation for post in the local guides connect in various sub categories like idea exchange , travel , food , how tos , achievements .

The limitation for a maximum of 1000 images is counted across all the different sections here on Connect. In addition, each photo needs to be smaller than 3 MB.
There are more limits to the length of posts or the number of replies on one post, but it is highly unlikely to affect us.

There is no limit to the number of posts you may make in Local Guides Connect. The only limitation is the one you have already identified; that of how many photos you may post.
It is asked, though, that you do consider the quality of each post you make; your goal is not to make as many posts as possible but rather please contribute high quality content and comments. But if you have lots of such content to post then please do contribute it.

Further to what @MortenCopenhagen has mentioned, there are several ways to overcome the 1000 photos limit easily.
Here is one such technique that I have been using for the past 1 year for my 400+ articles with several thousands of photos added so far in Connect.
After becoming a moderator this limit does not apply 
though I continue to use the above technique.
