Possible bug with deleting a photo and re-uploading.

Hello all, I have noticed a new bug as of late when deleting a photo which was marked private due to the recent other bug, then attempting to re-upload it. Per my conversations with @MortenCopenhagen I decided to post a new thread.

After re-uploading the once prior private photo due to our latest and apparently resolved bug, they are not appearing at all. Neither public to me or private. Simply nothing. My photos are usually pretty accurate and with no people. I will give two examples below. I have tried this with 5 different images, and none show up anywhere. The place is Westfield Century City mall, in Los Angeles. any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Great photos.

Did you test uploading a new photo that you did not attempt uploading before? Preferably not to one of the pins causing problems now.

Here is the link to the shopping center Westfield Century City

I would upload the second Pic to Bacio di Latte | Westfield Century City, LA

And not the shopping center. You could try.

I just found your 1st photo under

Everything But Water

Check the latest tab.

Could the simple explanation be that you already uploaded them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This is consistent with the pics not getting uploaded repeatedly. Google Maps has some duplicate filter in place.

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

So I want to make sure I am clear on what I did. I only uploaded my photos, all 12 of them to the individual stores, not the mall itself. All of them were private based on the last bug we had. Once that last bug was fixed, I went and deleted my private photo of said stores in my post. So they were deleted by me. I then uploaded them again to the store, and none of the show. I even edited one to make it look very different and uploaded that as well as a test. It also never posted.

In my own conclusion, and I am guessing here, all past photos they were marked private to a specific store have blocked me from uploading anything to those stores, even a different photo. That’s my guess for now. I hope I was clear thus time with what I did.

A long time ago I did some tests of the duplicate filter. I concluded that they use a unique photo ID number in the photo files. So editing it will not change this ID number. You need to go as far as to screen grab the photos to reset the pic ID.

So I just did one final test. I uploaded a photo called AllSaints at the same mall, after deleting it since it was private. I re-upload it again. Nothing. Not public or private. Photo below. Sorry for dragging this out, however there is some bug in play here. Lol

Did you find the nothing but water pic? It is public as I can see it.

I am not familiar with the term screen grabbing. Explain this process and perhaps I can run a test. Thx

It turns out that photo was not one of the 12 initial photos. It was a mistake by me to upload that water photo here. Lol. What a mess. Sorry I am not good with photo uploads here using my cell phone.

It is just a screenshot.

I will pm you my email. If you then send me the second and the all saints pics I will try uploading them to test if the issue is linked to your account.

Wow, just wow. So I deleted the AllSaints photo and then went to my gallery and did a screenshot of it, saved it without the SS info on, eg. Cropped top and bottom, and just uploaded it, and it appears now under AllSaints, in Century City. How wild is that. Is this considered acceptable practice or should I delete it? I mean it’s my photo lol. Just always want to be legit.

You lose a lot of resolution when framegrabbing an image, @StevenBerlin .

You may want to use a large monitor.

If resolution is okay I think it is legit. It is your photo.

But this confirms my old observation that the pic ID is used to block spammers from uploading the same image repeatedly.
