Popular tandoori naan bread and chicken in Melaka, Malaysia

Melaka (Malacca) is one of the most important historical places in Malaysia. It was the center of spice and silk trade between Europe, India and China during historical times since the 1500s to the 1900s, so much so that 3 nations occupied the land - the Portuguese, Dutch and English. Today Melaka is a thriving tourist destination with many historical landmarks and known for incredible street food from many ethnic groups local and foreign.

One of the popular food amongst locals and visitors who seek halal food is Tandoori chicken and naan bread. The best place agreed by many would be Pak Putra Restaurant (location https://goo.gl/maps/kZDa2jPP6ZjrgfDw8 ) in Tengkera in Melaka town, which is just walking distance from Jonker Walk.

The restaurant opens 6 days a week except Mondays, from 5.30pm to 1am. And after 7pm daily, it gets extremely crowded, especially on weekends. Don’t be surprised to see a queue with many tables set up outside the shop.

One of the most popular food to order from Pak Putra restaurant is their cheese naan bread, and tandoori chicken. The naan bread taste and feels just like freshly baked pizza crust, crispy yet chewy with a great mouthfeel. And with the cheese inside, make it rich and delicious. The tandoori chicken is grilled to perfection. Really good. [Photo above]

When in Melaka, if fancying some halal North Indian/Pakistan food, this is a must visit. Pak Putra Restaurant. Ask the locals who live here, almost everyone recommends this place.

Hello @StephenAbraham ! This so interesting. In portuguese history classes we teach that one of the first cities where Portugal trade spices was Malaca. The food looks great!

Hi @StephenAbraham

Oh my god, your post and photos are excellent. Especially for Tandoori chicken and naan bread lover like me.

Unfortunatly, there are not so many Indian or Pakistan restaurant closed to my place. So there are not so many opportunity to eat some.

This is the reason why I suggested to go to this kind of restaurant to @Stella2 @AlejandraMaria @Patriciapraca and her husband @JanVanHaver @TorM and @AdrianLunsong when we were in San Francisco last November.

Thanks a lot @StephenAbraham for making me hungry and aslo for bringing back these goods souvenirs!

Have a nice day

Hi @StephenAbraham ,

Thanks for sharing all the photos! The place looks great! I should search on Google Maps to see where I could try something similar because I don’t think I’ve tasted tandoori chicken before, can you imagine? The restaurant looks busy so that means the food is great. I am sure that you will be a regular visitor there.
