Polo is a game of Kings and Knights. British people brought this game to the Sub-Continent when they invade India in the 18th century.
The Pakistan Polo Association (PPA) runs polo affairs in Pakistan and conducts the calendar events in the country to promote the game here. The body, which was formed in 1947 as successor of the Indian Polo Association, is based at Islamabad.
Every year, polo is played in Pakistan at Lahore Polo Club and most of the matches of Pakistan Polo Association calendar are played here at this club located in Lahore. This year’s season of 2019-20 will begin in mid October 2019.
Besides Lahore Polo Club, the Pakistan polo played at Fortress Stadium, Islamabad Club and Shandur Pass in the Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the highest polo ground on the planet with an altitude of 3700 metres.
Lasyt year, I have invited @KashifMisidia on Unofficial LGC Anniversary Celebration Meet-up, but for some domestic reasons, he couldn’t join me at #LahorePoloClub. But this year, Kashifmisidia is keen to join me to witness such challenging and enthralling matches, as well as we have plan for wonderful meet-ups and great gatherings.
Assalam walaikum @azharmasood786 , thank you so much for tagging me in your wonderful post and your invitation as well. And sorry for not joining polo match in Lahore during Unofficial LGC Anniversary Celebrations, because that time I was busy with my tough schedule and it was hard to travel for Lahore. But anyways still I m Keen to see a live match of polo in Lahore Polo Club and in Shandur Polo Ground too, as you mentioned Shandur Polo Ground is the highest polo ground on the planet with an altitude of 3700 metres. I hope soon we can enjoy the polo match any of above places together. You can share some more about the Game of Polo, Season of this Game, how they play it with how many players . I love to know about it.
Here I want to tag @KarenVChin , because she really love to know about different cultures and traditions.
@azharmasood786 - I have never been to a polo game. Only know it by Ralph Lauren ads and his iconic Ralph Lauren polo shirts with the polo player riding the horse logo stitched on the shirt. LOL!
I believe here in San Francisco and the SF Bay Area, in general, there are polo matches during the polo-playing season. Tickets are very expensive!
I know the famous polo players in the world now are Nacho Figueras, Prince William and Prince Harry. It’s huge in Argentina because of Nacho. Maybe Argentina Local Guide and Connect Moderator @FaridTDF knows about polo?
How did you start watching polo @azharmasood786 ? Do you play the game? Interesting to know in Pakistan has clubs and audience to watch it. Thanks @KashifMisidia for taking me. @OmerAli , have you been to a polo match in Pakistan? England?
Saludos Farid

Thabk you for your intereting post and photos. You said that the British brought this game to the Sub-Continent when they invaded India in the 18th century so is it a big sport in your country? I ask this because I know that the British brought the game of cricket to your country and that is big sport there so wondered if Polo is bigger than cricket?
@KashifMisidia Thanks dear for your kind guidance and comments, as it helped me write my maiden connect informing the world about the game of Polo in Pakistan. Actually, I am a Sports Journalist and I love to cover Polo in Pakistan. I am also Media Coordinator of Lahore Polo Club. Throughout the season, I cover the entire polo matches in Lahore Polo Club and make news of every match and also interview the polo players.
@FaridTDF is absolutely right. Besides our local (Pakistani) players, most of the high-ranked international players belong to Argentina and then England and Chile. While every top Polo Team of Pakistan prefers to have top class and best ponies (horses) of Argentina. Throughout the world, Argentinean ponies (horses) are very famous as they run the fastest during the polo matches and leave behind all other ponies.
Many of my friends (polo players) are from Argentina, who come to play polo season in Pakistan. I love to watch their supreme polo game, skills and techniques. One of them is Juan Cruz Losada, who has been coming to Pakistan for last 5 years, and every year, he wins almost all the major titles for his local (Pakistani) team. He is our true hero in Pakistan. We love and respect him a lot.

@AdamGT Dear you are absolutely right. Cricket is at No. 1 in Pakistan and rest of the sports are at very low level.
But even then Polo is gaining popularity in Pakistan and attracting maximum fans towards this grand game of Knights and Kings, because every year, the level of Pakistan polo is increasing and Pakistani players, along with international heroes, amusing the spectators with their majestic game. So people here have also started sparing some time for Polo.
Thanks for replyng to my question with such detail @azharmasood786 . So if this Game of Kings is gaining popularity in Pakistan, do you think that it will some day overtake cricket. What will Imran Khan have to say about this?
